Into The Forest

Nell writes, "I never knew how much we consumed. It seems as if we are all appetite, as if a human being is simply a bundle of needs to drain the world. It's no wonder there are wars, no wonder the earth and water and air are polluted. It's no wonder the economy collapsed, if Eva and I use so much merely to stay alive" (135).
This quote is relevant in today’s world because people all have needs, we are always wanting but not realizing what we need. We think we need something but in reality it’s just us wanting it. People will always want things even things that we do need, for example some people will do what ever for food. And in order for us to survive we need food our body needs food. But also knowing when it’s too much. Another thing that we need to survive is money; people are always wanting more money, not realizing that we are fight and killing each other for paper. Well back to the topic being human is wanting whether its happiness, love or a big family, it’s like our appetite always-craving new food. Nell in the end realizes that she didn’t need to take the book with her. The book was defiantly not what I expected, neither the ending. How did Nell and Eva go from having and want to having none.

  1. I like how you say that "We think we need something but in reality it’s just us wanting it", that is the truth! I can completely relate and it is one of the problems that stirs the pot when it comes to the over consumption in the world.

  2. i am not sure which point you are trying to make. i think you are saying that people are always hungry, and i agree with that, and when it comes to the ending. i think that they finally found a way for them to want only what they need, so while they are hungry, they know when to stop eating.

  3. Awesome job you really know how to express yourself. I think that you have a good point of view when you say that everyone WANTS instead of NEEDS.

  4. I understand what you are saying and you make a good point, we do confuse our want, and we dont see why we are confusing it with need. We need things yes, it is a fact yet we dont see why we are confusing it with want, want want. We all have an appetite for food, for learning, for wanting, needing, for living.
